Who are we?

We are SAB&T Chartered Accounts Inc T/A Nexia SAB&T and we have been providing accounting, audit and consulting services since the birth of South Africa’s democracy in 1994. Our company was incorporated under the laws of South Africa and our registration number is 1997/018869/21. Our principal place of business is 119 Witch-Hazel Avenue, Highveld Technopark, Centurion. What do we consider your personal information and what do we do with it?

  • “Personal Information” (PI) shall mean all personal details submitted or obtained in the course of your application, including, but not limited to identity number, race, contact, educational, employment, medical, financial, credit, and criminal history, as well as opinions and references.
  • “POPIA” refers to the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013, as amended.
  • “Special Personal Information” means personal information concerning the religious or philosophical beliefs, race or ethnic origin, trade union membership, political persuasion, health or sex life or biometric information of a data subject; or the criminal behaviour of a data subject to the extent that such information relates to (i) the alleged commission by a data subject of any offence; or (ii) any proceedings in respect of any offence allegedly committed by a data subject or the disposal of such proceedings. 
  • NEXIA SAB&T undertakes to process PI and/or Special PI submitted by yoruself in accordance with the lawful processing principles of POPIA and only as required for recruitment, assessment, and appointment purposes.
  • By submitting an application for employment, you irrevocably and unconditionally agree:
    • That you are herewith notified of the purpose and basis for the collection and processing of their PI and/or Special PI, including for purposes of shortlisting, interviews, reference checking, and onboarding.
    • That you consent to the collection, processing, and further processing of their PI and/or Special PI by NEXIA SAB&T for the purposes of evaluating your suitability for employment.
    • That you specifically consent to the disclosure and sharing of your PI and/or Special PI with third-party service providers engaged by NEXIA SAB&T for the purpose of conducting credit checks, criminal record vetting, vetting against sanctions lists and other background screening activities.
    • That you acknowledge that such collection and processing is necessary and falls within the scope of NEXIA SAB&T’s legal obligations and legitimate interests as a prospective employer.
    • That any of Nexia SAB&T’s PI shared with the applicant during the process, including internal HR policies or contract details, must be treated as confidential and not disclosed without prior authorisation.

What don’t we do with your personal information?

  • We won’t sell or give away your personal information.
  • We won’t use it for a purpose that you were not aware of or that you have not given us consent for.

For how long do we keep your personal information?

  • We don’t keep personal information for longer than necessary, but we keep personal information between 5-15 years as prescribed by the legislation and regulations governing our business, and as amended from time to time.

How do we make sure your personal information is secure?

We are advocates of the “confidentiality, integrity, availability” (cia) method.

  • Confidentiality: only the people who need to know will have access to your personal information.
  • Integrity: only a designated few will be able to update your personal information.
  • Availability: your personal information will be available when needed.

What are your rights?

You have the right to access, amend, rectify, object to the processing and request discarding of your personal information at any time, just email privacy@nexia-sabt.co.za and tell us what you want.

What happens if we have a security breach?

We will analyse where the breach occurred and we will make sure that the breach cannot happen again.

If you are affected by a breach, you will be informed of the breach and we will make suggestions on how you can ensure that you don’t suffer any damage as a result of the breach.
