SARS Invites Public Input on 2025 Budget

Feb 10, 2025 | Taxation

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has issued a call for public input on the upcoming 2025 Budget. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana will deliver the National Budget Speech in February 2025, and the government is seeking suggestions from South Africans on various budget-related topics.

The budget allocation aims to strike a balance between growing the economy and supporting the vulnerable amid limited resources. Tax practitioners are encouraged to inform their clients about this opportunity to contribute their views on key issues such as government spending priorities, addressing the large budget deficit, stabilizing State-Owned Entity finances, energy funding solutions, tax revenues, debt sustainability, and municipal finances.

Minister Godongwana has emphasized the importance of public participation in the budget process, stating that the input from citizens will help shape the government's approach to these critical issues. Contributions should be concise and to the point, not exceeding 300 words. The closing date for submissions is 12 February 2025.
