Brief Description of this Job

To uphold quality standards and ensure effective risk management. To provide support services to directors and staff as well as clients of the firm. Ensuring that support is provided in time and within expected time limits, through effective and efficient people and other resources management. Reporting in to Associate Director of Risk and Quality.

Application Requirements

  • CA (SA)
  • Computer Literate (MS Office)
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge
  • Keeping abreast of technical updates and legislation changes
  • Knowledge of IFRS, IFRS for SMEs required
  • Knowledge of JSE listing requirements required
  • Knowledge of GRAP and Modified accounting (public sector) preferable
  • Knowledge of international auditing standards and ethical requirements

Experience

  • At least 3 years working experience in a similar type industry

Key Responsibilities

Consultation and support services

  • Provide technical opinions on accounting matters
  • Provide guidance on the application of Companies Act legislation
  • Perform technical reviews on Annual Financial Statements
  • Perform research on topical accounting and auditing matters

Quality Control

  • Perform engagement quality control reviews
  • Perform internal quality monitoring reviews
  • Review appropriateness of audit opinions
  • Review compliance with auditing standards

Training

  • Develop training courses / workshop sessions
  • Present training to staff
  • Mark simulation tests completed by trainees

Shared services with W Consulting

  • Liaise with IFRS advisors on matters related to listed clients
  • Obtain second opinions on technical matters

Audit Methodology

  • Develop and update working paper templates
  • Develop and update compliance checklists
  • Develop and update internal manuals and guides
  • Development of accounting and legislative application guides

Communications

  • Compile monthly technical newsletter
  • Research topical issues for inclusion in technical directives
  • Write-up of technical proposals
  • Write-up of articles as required
